  • by: Jeremy Smith

A story from 2014 involving former state senator Russell Pearce is trending on the internet again, only this time with some completely false information. The currently trending republished story comes from a website that bills itself as "JUST ENOUGH NEWS... Newslo is the first hybrid News/Satire platform on the web," which explains the COMPLETELY FALSE second half of the story.

Two years ago, on his KKNT 960 AM The Russell Pearce Show, "Pearce declared: "You put me in charge of Medicaid, the first thing I'd do is get Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations...Then we'll test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [reproduce] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job."

Shortly after speaking on the show, "the far-right former lawmaker who helped push Arizona's "papers please" immigration law has resigned as a top official with the state GOP after making comments about sterilizing poor women." Below is a clip of the 2014 show:

Lead Stories is unsure of the motive for republishing this old story, other than the fact that it is a political season and Russell Pearce a very controversial Republican, especially for his stance on immigration. Last year Pearce stated that he would be happy to run as Donald Trump's running mate, though The Donald never asked.
